Soviet posters first appeared during the Proletarian Revolution. The posters delivered Communist slogan’s and they called on the workers and peasants to fight for freedom and justice. There were very little newspaper’s so poster’s often replaced the tabloid. Poster’s were easily accessible by everyone and were easy to understand. The workers and farmers are depicted in this poster, they were used to represent Communism and to show that everyone is helping and contributing to the war effort. The poster is being used to sell Communism, by showing how everyone runs the country and helped out.

The Soviet Propaganda was going strong in the mid 20th century and when it came to the space program, the artists managed to create lots of propaganda posters surrounding the space program. The Propaganda was designed to make the Russian people feel proud and to give them a sense of achievement. The person shown here is wearing a worker’s uniform which shows that it wasn’t just the astronaut’s who achieved reaching space, it was everyone. It shows that the workers must work hard and through the use of industry that the Soviet Union will become a powerful Space Age nation.

This poster was controversial as their is a lot of violence in the world at the moment and extremists from different religions are claiming to be causing terror for religious reasons.

Destroying Work

I chose to use Barbara Kruger as she stuck words and headline to show what the photo’s were showing and the meaning behind them. I stuck words around mine that depict a modern day teenagers life, I did this as lots of people can relate to the work and will be able to understand it. I used words such as ‘drugs’ and ‘drink’ as most teenagers have tried these things before therefore can understand why I chose the words.

A key method he uses is a title, because of his project work, he tries to think of the perfect title to get the most out of his audiences mind.

Alec hes been compared more to fine art photographers then street photographers, which both involve approaching strangers. In an interview Alec said “I started out with kids because that was less threatening. I eventually worked my way up to every type of person’
