Propaganda Posters

Soviet posters first appeared during the Proletarian Revolution. The posters delivered Communist slogan’s and they called on the workers and peasants to fight for freedom and justice. There were very little newspaper’s so poster’s often replaced the tabloid. Poster’s were easily accessible by everyone and were easy to understand. The workers and farmers are depicted in this poster, they were used to represent Communism and to show that everyone is helping and contributing to the war effort. The poster is being used to sell Communism, by showing how everyone runs the country and helped out.

The Soviet Propaganda was going strong in the mid 20th century and when it came to the space program, the artists managed to create lots of propaganda posters surrounding the space program. The Propaganda was designed to make the Russian people feel proud and to give them a sense of achievement. The person shown here is wearing a worker’s uniform which shows that it wasn’t just the astronaut’s who achieved reaching space, it was everyone. It shows that the workers must work hard and through the use of industry that the Soviet Union will become a powerful Space Age nation.

This is a German Propaganda poster from the 1940’s which is telling the German people about the blackout, it translates to ‘The enemy sees your light’. The skeleton would make people feel scared about being bombed so that they would take part in the blackout.

The United Colors Of Benetton used lots of different controversial posters to advertise their brand and clothing. In this poster they used lots of different religious symbols to show how everyone is equal and the word’s ‘harmony’ show that everyone can live together and be together peacefully. This poster was controversial as their is a lot of violence in the world at the moment and extremists from different religions are claiming to be causing terror for religious reasons.
